In our latest Shabaka Talks, Research Manager Kirstie Kwarteng talks to colleague Lily Radwan about intergenerational humanitarian diaspora response to crises in countries of origin. Lily is a recent graduate of SOAS, University of London where she was the President of the Syrians Students Association.
Since the conflict started in 2011, around 12 million people have been displaced (roughly half internally and half out of the country). Civilians have been subject to a decade-long (plus) campaign of sustained violence and hardship.
This week also marks the 10 year anniversary of the use of chemical weapons against civilians.
